Krak Paycheck

Krak Paycheck lets you send your paycheck, or part of it, to your Krak account by direct deposit. Once your pay lands in Krak, you begin to qualify for our Salary Rewards of up to 1% ($2,500 minimum qualifying monthly allocation).

Krak adds up to 1% of your qualifying paycheck deposits as Salary Rewards. Your rate depends on your Krak tier, so it may be lower than 1%. To qualify, you need to use automatic setup and meet the minimum qualifying monthly allocation of $2,500. Manual setup does not qualify.

For full terms, see Salary Rewards.

Go to the Paycheck section on the homepage of your Krak app and follow the steps to set up direct deposit:

  1. Select or confirm your payroll provider. In some cases, Krak can detect your payroll provider in the background, so you don’t need to sign in directly to your payroll provider.

  2. If your employer’s payroll provider needs an extra step, sign in to your payroll provider when prompted and complete any multi-factor authentication.

  3. Choose how much to send: your full paycheck (the default) or a partial fixed amount.

  4. Review your summary and confirm.

Setup takes a couple of minutes. By continuing with automatic setup, you agree to the Direct Deposit terms. Your paycheck starts arriving in Krak on your next pay cycle.

Yes. You can send your full paycheck or a set amount to Krak. Your full paycheck is the default, but you can send less by customizing the amount during setup.

You can change your split at any time from the Paycheck section in the app.

Yes, the minimum is $10 per paycheck. Your payroll provider and Citibank, which provides Krak’s virtual accounts, may also apply their own minimums.

No. Krak doesn’t charge a fee to receive your paycheck by direct deposit.

Your paycheck starts arriving in Krak on your next pay cycle after you switch. After that, it arrives on your regular payday. Exact timing depends on your employer’s payroll schedule.

Paychecks arrive on business days. If your payday falls on a weekend or bank holiday, your pay arrives on the nearest business day, subject to your employer’s payroll procedures. The payday shown in the app is an estimate. If your pay hasn’t arrived by then, the date moves forward while we keep checking.

Yes. You get a notification when your pay is ready in Krak.

When you switch your paycheck, Krak uses our payroll technology partner, Pinwheel, to connect to your payroll provider and update where your pay is deposited. In most cases this happens in the background and you don’t need to sign in. If your provider needs an extra step, you’ll be asked to sign in to your payroll provider to approve the change. Krak never receives or stores your payroll username or password.

Krak shares only the information necessary with Pinwheel to securely retrieve your payroll data. Krak receives details such as your employer, pay schedule and paycheck amounts to set up your switch and show your paychecks in the app and, if you use other Krak payroll features, to check your eligibility for them.

Krak Paycheck is for your payroll (salary income): paychecks paid by direct deposit through your employer’s payroll provider. You can search for your payroll provider during setup. If your provider isn’t supported, you can set up manually by giving your employer’s HR team your Krak routing and account number.

With automatic setup, Krak connects to your payroll provider and updates your direct deposit for you in the Krak app.

With manual setup, you give your employer’s HR team your Krak routing and account number yourself. Salary Rewards is only available with automatic setup.

Contact support in the Krak app as soon as you notice a problem. The same applies if you didn’t authorize the switch or an amount looks wrong. Your rights for incorrect or unauthorized electronic transfers are described in your account’s electronic transfer disclosure.

There’s no cancel button in the app. Update your direct deposit with your employer or payroll provider to send your pay somewhere else. Changes usually take effect by your next pay cycle. Your Krak account stays open.

No. Krak doesn’t use your credit score for Krak Paycheck.

Payroll Cash Advance

Payroll Cash Advance lets you access a portion of your expected pay before payday, based on your paycheck history with Krak. We recover it automatically from your Krak balance when your next paycheck lands.

Your limit is based on the paychecks Krak has identified as your salary, up to a cap set by your account tier. You can see your available advance, and the date your next paycheck is expected, in the Paycheck section of the app.

You can take more than one advance. Each advance can be up to half of your limit, and advances count toward your limit for 30 days, even after they are recovered.

You can use Payroll Cash Advance once you have two or more confirmed paychecks from the same employer in Krak and a regular pay schedule. If you’re not eligible yet, the app shows how many paychecks to go. Payroll Cash Advance is available in supported US states only. If it isn’t available where you live, you won’t see it in the app.

  1. Open the Paycheck section of the app and tap Get advance.

  2. Enter an amount, up to your available advance.

  3. Choose how you want to receive it, free or instant. Check the fee and expected payday.

  4. Agree to the cash advance terms and confirm.

Your advance limit is capped by your Krak Rewards tier, which is based on your average balance on Krak over the past 30 days. You can see your limit on the Cash advance card in the Paycheck section, which shows how much you’ve used, for example “$150 of $300 used”.

Max

Instant delivery costs 3% of the amount, with a $3 minimum and a maximum of $3 (Starter), $5 (Light and Pro), $8 (Elite) or $10 (Max). The fee is added to what we recover. For example, a $100 instant advance costs $3, so $103 is recovered from your next paycheck.

You can choose how to receive your advance:

  • Instant: funds usually arrive within a few minutes, for a fee

  • Free: no fee, with funds arriving within up to two business days

New clients may start with a lower limit for the first few cycles, then move up to their full tier cap as more of their paychecks are confirmed.

Recovery is automatic. When your next paycheck lands in Krak, Krak first takes the amount you advanced, plus any fee, from your Krak balance. The rest stays available to you. There’s no manual step and no separate bill.

Your advances are grouped into cycles that last up to 34 days. You can’t request an advance in the last 48 hours of a cycle. If your advances haven’t been recovered in full by the end of the cycle, we write off the unpaid amount. You won’t owe us anything further: no interest, no late fees, no collection calls and no credit reporting. However, you won’t be able to use Payroll Cash Advance again.

No. Krak doesn’t report advances to credit bureaus, and doesn’t use your credit score to decide whether you’re eligible.
