Higher limits can mean two different things on Krak, and they work in different ways:
Cashback is something you can increase yourself. Your rate is set by your Krak Rewards tier, and you move up by holding a higher average balance.
Card spending and ATM limits are set by region and shown in your app. You can view them anytime, and our team can review your account if you regularly reach them.
Your cashback rate is set by your Krak Rewards tier. The higher your tier, the higher your rate, up to 2% on eligible Krak Card purchases.
Your tier is based on your average 30-day balance across Krak, Kraken, and Kraken Pro, calculated hourly. Krak uses a 30-day average rather than your live balance to keep your rate stable and predictable.
There are five tiers:
Tier | Cashback rate |
|---|---|
Starter | 0% |
Light | 0.5% |
Pro | 1% |
Elite | 1.5% |
Max | 2% |
You can see your current tier, your 30-day average balance, and the amount needed to reach the next tier in your Rewards hub.
To reach a higher tier, hold a higher average balance across Krak, Kraken, and Kraken Pro.
Open your Krak app and go to your Rewards hub.
Check your current tier and the balance needed for the next tier.
Add funds to your Krak, Kraken, or Kraken Pro balance.
Keep the funds in your account so your 30-day average continues to rise.
Deposits build into your average gradually rather than all at once. A deposit is spread evenly across 30 days, so your average rises a little each day and reaches its full effect after 30 days. Because your tier is recalculated on a set schedule rather than in real time, a new deposit will not change your tier immediately.
After 30 days, your tier is calculated using a 30-day trailing average. Your daily balances from your last 30 days are added together and divided by 30 to determine your tier. This calculation is performed once daily. This prevents your tier from jumping up or down with short-term balance changes.
New customers in eligible regions can receive a Welcome Gift of Max Rewards, the top Krak Rewards tier, for their first 30 days. This gives you the top cashback rate of 2% on eligible Card purchases, plus a 1% salary match in eligible regions. After the 30 days, your cashback rate depends on the average balance you hold across Krak, Kraken, and Kraken Pro. Geographic restrictions apply.

You earn cashback on eligible purchases, but some transactions never qualify. These usually include:
ATM withdrawals
Refunds, reversals, and chargebacks
Very small transactions below the minimum amount
Non-purchase transactions, such as funding, transfers, or wire transfers
Certain merchant categories, such as cash and cash equivalents, gift cards and prepaid products, gambling, financial products (for example securities and insurance), and government payments (for example taxes and fines)
Any transaction we consider suspicious, fraudulent, or an attempt to game the program
If an eligible purchase is later refunded or charged back, any cashback earned on it is removed. The exact list of exclusions and the reward rules can vary by region, so check the Krak Card cashback terms that apply to you for the full details.
Your Krak Card has spending and ATM limits that apply on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. These limits are set by region and are the same for standard cardholders in your area.
To review your current limits:
Open your Krak app.
Go to Card > Card Settings > Limits.
Review your spending and ATM limits.
If a transaction is declined or you have reached a limit, it is worth checking a few things first, as the cause is often not the limit itself:
Confirm you have enough spendable balance for the purchase.
Check your Spend Order to make sure the asset you want to use is available and not blocked.
If you regularly reach your limits and would like your account reviewed, contact our support team through the Krak app. We will take a look and let you know your options.
